April 26-30

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

 

Peace of Christ! We will be having a field trip to the MN Zoo for the “Farm Babies” exhibit, this Friday, April 30^th with the Pre-K and 1^st grade! We will leave HFA at 9am and leave the zoo at 2pm to head back to HFA! Please have your child wear their HFA uniform and pack a bag lunch, as we will be having a picnic lunch! Permission slips have been emailed out to you parents! If you did not receive it here is the information you need. The Field Trip Permission form and the Archdiocesan Parent Consent Form will need to be filled out, signed and returned by Wednesday, April 28.  The cost for the field trip is $10 which covers the bus and the Zoo.  If your family has a membership to the MN Zoo, please provide a photocopy of your families’ membership card and then the cost is only $5.00 to cover the bus. If you have any questions about the field trip please let me know.  The field trip form can also be found on the website under Parent Resources, Forms. Your child WILL NOT be able to attend the field trip without the SIGNED permission form!

In Phonics we will continue to learn about the vowels and the different sounds they make with different rules. We will still be focusing on long vowels. A long vowel says its own name. A silent “e” at the end of a word makes the vowel before it long. In Math this week, we will be identifying largest and smallest shapes and identifying and matching equivalent sets, using dominos.

In Science, we will be starting a new unit on animals and plants. In Social Studies, we will be learning about the continent of Europe and Africa! Along with the places that make them special like the castles in Europe, Paris, the wild animals in Africa and the Nile River! In Religion, we will continue to learn about God’s House-The Church and how it is a place of prayer and celebration!
