May 24-29, 2010

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather that God has been providing us! I know that I have been! This will be our last week of homework and spelling tests for Kindergarten as we have track and field day on Friday and the next week we will have our 100 day’s of school celebration June 2nd and  Kindergarten Graduation June 4th at 10am. As we prepare for our 100th Day of Kindergarten please have your child bring 100 of something(please bring on Wednesday, June 2nd), it can be cheerios, paper clips, rubber bands, pennies, gummy bears, etc(whatever you have at home). As we will be doing a fun writing activity with the 100 items they bring.
This week in Phonics we will continue to learn about modified vowels. Modified means changed. A modified vowel is a vowel changed by an “r” after it. Examples: born, star and stork.  In Math this week, we will be identifying halves and fourths, along with measuring in inches. In Science, we will be learning about what animals need to survive and how they can be helpful to people. In Social Studies, we will continue to learn about Native Americans, specifically the Abenaki people!   In Religion, we will learn about Baptism and that we become apart of God’s family! I hope I got everything in here that needs to be! Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you all for a WONDERFUL year in Kindergarten, your children have grown so much academically, physically and spiritually! They have been a tremendous group and have blessed me in so many ways this year! Thanks for all your prayers and support through out the year, I feel VERY fortunate to have such supportive and prayerful parents! As always, please feel free to email me at alashinski@hfamn.org or call me at 952-925-9193 if you have any questions. Please allow me 24 hours to get back to you!

Blessings,
