Dear Super Fantastic Kindergarten Parents,
May the joy of the Lord be with you this week! For a few more weeks in Phonics, we will continue to learn about the vowels and the different sounds they make with different rules. We will still be focusing on long vowels. A long vowel says its own name. A silent “e” at the end of a word makes the vowel before it long. In Math this week, we will be learning how to solve problems by checking and guessing and drawing pictures to help us solve story problems.
In Science, we will be learning about things that are living and non-living. In Social Studies, we will be learning about the continent of Europe and Africa (we didn’t get to it last week because of the fieldtrip on Friday)! Along with the places that make them special like the castles in Europe, Paris, the wild animals in Africa and the Nile River! In Religion, we will learn about Church leaders and the authority given to Peter and the Apostles by Jesus, that was passed on by the Apostles and their successors to the Church leaders of today!
I also want to take this opportunity to let you all know that I will be teaching a summer school class called First Grade Readiness. It will run every Tues., Wed., Thurs., July 6-29 (12 classes) from 8:45am-11:15am in the Kindergarten classroom. The cost will be $300 per child (which is $10.00 per hour compared to other tutoring programs at $40 + dollars an hour). This class is specifically designed for current kindergarten students in preparation for Holy Family Academy’s first grade program. Students will work 45 minutes on phonics and 45 minutes on math with a break, snack, and exercise held in the middle. I have taught summer school for six years and will use creative teaching techniques, movement, and art to ramp-up the student’s learning, re-enforce skills, and keep kindergarten knowledge fresh while preparing for first grade. I am limiting the class to 10 students, so if you are interested please let me know, so I can put your child on the list, as it can fill up fast! Payment will not be due till the first day of classes (July 6th). Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thank you!
I am so blessed to teach and be with your children three days a week as they bring so much joy to my life! Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to love and lead them on the path to holiness along with you, as parents! As always, please feel free to email me at alashinski@hfamn.org or call me at 952-925-9193 if you have any questions. Please allow me 24 hours to get back to you!
Blessings,
Miss Amy Lashinski
