Dear Beautiful and Amazing Kindergarten Parents,

 

            Blessings to you and your families this week! This week in Phonics we will be finishing up our lessons on the long vowels. In Math this week, we will be identifying the times of day, such as morning, afternoon, evening, counting by 2’s and identifying even and odd numbers. In Science, we will be learning about things that are living and non-living and comparing different animal characteristics. In Social Studies, we will be learning about the continent of Asia, Australia and Antarctica, along with the places that make them special like the Great Wall of China, kangaroos, koalas and penguins!   In Religion, we will be learning about sin and when we sin we hurt ourselves, others and God! We will also be having extra music practices this week as we have our Spring Program on Thursday, May 13^th at 6:30pm. The children have been working extra hard preparing for this and I look forward to seeing you all there! 

I also want to take this opportunity to let you all know that I will be teaching a summer school class called First Grade Readiness. It will run every Tues., Wed., Thurs., July 6-29 (12 classes) from 8:45am-11:15am in the Kindergarten classroom. The cost will be $300 per child (which is $10.00 per hour compared to other tutoring programs as $40 + dollars an hour). This class is specifically designed for current kindergarten students in preparation for Holy Family Academy’s first grade program. Students will work 45 minutes on phonics and 45 minutes on math with a break, snack, and exercise held in the middle. I have taught summer school for six years and will use creative teaching techniques, movement, and art to ramp-up the student’s learning, re-enforce skills, and keep kindergarten knowledge fresh while preparing for first grade. I am limiting it to 10 students, so if you are interested please let me know, so I can put your child on the list. Payment will not be due till the first day of classes (July 6^th). Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thank you!
