April 26-30

This week in Fifth Grade:

I am enjoying reading the Historical Research papers as they come back to school typed.  I will send a copy of the paper back home with the students no later than Wednesday so that they can use it to make up their one to two minute oral presentation which they will give to the class on next Monday, May 3, and again at the Academic Fair to fair viewers.  The students may use one note card to write down key words to help them remember the order of their presentation. I would strongly encourage the students to practice their oral report at home in front of a parent.  Display boards are also due at school on Monday, May 3rd.  The last part of the project, the costume, will be due at school on Thursday, May 6, the day of the Academic Fair.  Thanks for all of your help with this project; it's been a fun journey.

I will be attending the Math Masters competition with 6 Fifth Graders and Mrs. Coone in Lakeville this Friday.  Mrs. Anderson will be the Substitute teacher in Fifth Grade.

Religion- We will be learning about the Holy Spirit this week. (One of my favorite topics to teach on!)  The students are asked to bring an 8 by 10 piece of wrapping paper, bow, or ribbon for Tuesday's lesson.  The students need to know the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and a brief explanation of them by Thursday. They will have a flame shaped handout to help them.

Writing-  We will be writing a paper on the contributions of Priests to the Faithful.

Reading-  The students will be assigned most of the chapters of our Wrinkle in Time novel to be read at home this quarter.  This week, they will be reading chapters 4-6 at home.  There will be a quiz on these chapters on Thursday.  100 Reading minutes are due by Friday.

Math-  Lessons 102-105

Spelling- Unit 31 Spelling book pages are due by Thursday.  Unit 31 Test on Friday.

Science- A study guide on Matter will come home Wednesday.  Our test over Matter will be on Friday.

Have a Blessed Week!
