Off to a great start!

H.F.A. art students are off to a great start. We spent the first two weeks of school reviewing and warming up for the first big art projects of the year. It was obvious to me that many of the students had practiced their art skills over the summer. Thank you, parents!

In addition, students reviewed God's essential role in an artist’s life. It is God who creates us in His image and gives us creative gifts. For this reason, we as artists have the responsibility to create works of true beauty and truth that reflect the glory of our Creator. I believe that it is essential that the students understand these ideas, because our world often tells a creative person to create out of self-glorification or to promote sinful actions.

Last week, many of the students started their first major art projects. I was very impressed! The dedication and practice of the students will result in some truly beautiful works of art.

Continue to encourage your child to draw and paint in his or her free time. Becoming a skilled artist is like learning to play an instrument. It takes practice and dedication. The more you practice, the better you will be. It really is that simple.

God bless you all!
