Marvelous Mosaics
I have had so much fun making colored mosaics with our fourth and fifth graders here at H.F.A.
Mosaics are a tradition that goes back almost four thousand years. Ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia and Greece created them frequently to decorate interior spaces. Mosaics cover the interior of St. Peters Basilica in Rome as well as many ancient ruins of Egypt, Crete, and Rome.
H.F.A. students are using tiny paper tiles to create detailed color compositions. Creating mosaics helps them to understand the importance of light and shadows. Each mosaic is unique and carefully planned. Please encourage your children to take the time they need to do their best.
