Taking Watercolors to the Next Step!
Fifth graders are beginning to experiment with professional watercolors. They are learning to mix the primary colors together to create the secondary colors. The students are experimenting with color wheels and soon they will begin their first composition.
A wonderful way to learn how to use watercolors is to copy an illustration from a children's book. Watercolors are used in many famous story books. Combined with a good pen, watercolors are ideal for brightening any picture. Therefore, the students will be bringing in a favorite children's book from home to copy one of the illustrations.
