Don't forget! There are only a few days left until our Noodles Fundraiser!!! Gather up your family, friends, and neighbors and bring them to the new Noodles Restaurant in St. Louis Park, West End Shops, 5326 16th Street (new shopping complex across the street from Costco and Home Depot). Noodles has offered to give Holy Family Academy 100% of their sales (not profit – but sales!) from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3rd. Noodles officially opens the following day, November 4th, and this is a great way for them to work out any “kinks” prior to their official opening. Money raised at this event will go toward purchasing our new musical instruments including glockenspiel, xylophone, hand chimes, snare drum, and hand drums. Top
Providence Academy has extended an invitation to all Holy Family Academy 8th graders for a very special Shadow Day on Friday, November 6th, from 11:00-3:15 pm. The day includes being picked up at Holy Family Academy by the Providence Academy bus at 10:50 am, eating a free and delicious lunch at Providence Academy, shadowing a current Providence Academy student from class to class while touring the school, and lastly a parent tour from 2:45 – 3:15 pm before going home with your parents at the end of the day. Every effort will be made to split up the 8th graders when they arrive for the day so that they can experience Providence Academy as well as possible without their current classmates at their side. Students must R.S.V.P. to Holy Family Academy at 952-925-9193 to reserve a spot if they will be attending. Please note that this is an early release day for Holy Family Academy so our 8th graders will not be missing any school. Top
Have you called in your RSVP, or that of a loved one, for our Veterans Day breakfast on Wednesday, November 11th yet? The moring includes a wonderful breakfast, delightful student program, and guest speaker, Top Gun Fighter Pilot, Lt Col Alex Plechash. The event will be in Kattar Hall and begins immediately following morning Mass (about 8:40 am). If you know Veterans who would like to attend, please invite them and their spouses to this special morning of appreciation. RSVPs are required; please call the school office at 952-925-9193 to make reservations today. Free-will donations will be accepted. Top
There are many opportunities for parents to get involved at Holy Family Academy and make our wonderful school even stronger. Currently, the two areas most in need of help are:
- Volunteer teaching P.E. to grades 3, 4, or 5. As you know, our P.E. program suffered a significant blow this year when it was prudently removed from the budget. Our P.E. classes thus far this year have been taught by classroom aides and teachers. Although this is working out just fine, we could really use the aides and teachers in many other capacities in the school. We are looking for dedicated parents to volunteer teach P.E. to grades 3, 4, or 5 twice each week for 40 minutes. I need two parents per grade level (3, 4, 5) who are willing to make the commitment to come in at the same time every week and lead our kids in organized recreation and exercise. Please call Mrs. Coone at 952-925-9193 if you are interested.
- Helping out in either the lunchroom or the kitchen during lunch. This is an ongoing need and one that you can do once a month or daily – whatever your time allows. Please email Christina Zielinski at czielinski@hfamn.org if you are interested.
- Reminder: all volunteers need to have completed Virtus Training and a Background Check. Information about both is on the website under Parent Resources; Volunteering. Top
- This year's Varsity Soccer team, consisting of many of the seventh and eighth graders, has had a phenomenal season! They won all of their regular season games, which puts them in first place, AND they won their semifinal game on Wednesday! They will compete in the MCYO Championship on Saturday, October 31st at 2:30 pm at Franklin Field. Come cheer them on to HFA's first sports championship!
- The Cub Soccer teams finished their season last week. Although the records don't show it, both teams showed great improvement over the course of the season. Thanks to the Cub players for showing us how to persevere when things are not going how we want them to!
- The Soccer end of season party will be Thursday, November 12th at 6:00 pm in Kattar Hall. There will be pizza, pop, cake & ice cream. Players and coaches are admitted free; the cost of all others is $4 per person or $14 per family. Please RSVP to the office if your family will be attending.
- The Varsity Girls Volleyball team took 4th place this year. Congratulations to them on a great season!
- The Cub Girls Volleyball team has made it to the quarterfinals of their postseason tournament. Their final rounds will be Saturday, October 31st at Our Lady of Peace. The first game for the Crusader girls will be at 9:00 am. Please come out and cheer them on.
- The Volleyball end of season party will be Monday, November 9th at 6:00 pm in Kattar Hall. There will be pizza, pop, cake & ice cream. Players and coaches are admitted free; the cost of all others is $4 per person or $14 per family. Please RSVP to the office if your family will be attending.
- Registrations for boys and girls basketball are due TODAY, October 30th. If your child wants to play, and you have not yet sent in your registration form, please contact Lisa Counts today at countsclan@gmail.com. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Lisa Counts at countsclan@gmail.com.

- For all those sick and suffering. Top
Before we even begin to list our student winners, it is our great joy to say, "Thank you" to Robin Keller and her assistant Kathy Kruse for their tireless work on the Marathon. Their efforts, energy, and creativity raised a grand total of $30,417 for our school. They began in August and continued right on through until the end of October and never stopped smiling and pushing. Robin and Kathy were also supported by many other Marathon volunteers that made the event not only successful but fun! God bless you Robin and Kathy and all Marathon volunteers.
Student Award Summary:
- The Team Work Award goes to the 8th grade class for raising the most money. They collectively raised $3,599 which averages out to $171.36 per student. They will be treated to an all-you-can-eat pizza lunch hosted by Father Dufner and Mrs. Coone and the distinguished honor of having the Marathon Bear mascot join their classroom for the duration of the school year. Congratulations 8th graders!
- The Principal's Award goes to eighth grader, April N who raised $793.00. April wins the honor of being our Principal for a Day!
- The Charity Award goes to kindergartner Matt W., who collected pledges from 51 different sources. Matt will receive $100 to donate to a charity of his choice and his name will be engraved on the Marathon Charity Award Plaque.
- The Family Award, given to the family that raises the most money collectively, goes to the Franz family. They will receive a family gift basket filled with treats and prizes and a $50 gift certificate for Educational Outfitters.
- The Marathon Day Participation Prize, given to every student that participated in the Marathon on October 10th, was a red and black HFA pom pom. They have already been seen cheering our sports teams on to victory.
We couldn't end our report without providing a few more details and looking ahead to the future. As you know, our goal was $35,000, all of which was earmarked for our general operating expenses. What you may not know is that 75% of our student body raised the end total of $30,417. With full participation we would have more than reached our goal, even exceeeded it(!!), and that is exciting to know! We are in the process of looking at a few fundraising options to help cover the $5,000 we were short. Please stay tuned for more information. Top
Conferences with Mrs. Leisenheimer for Pre-K students will be Monday, November 23rd, from 8:30-2:30. You can sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board across the hall from the office. Top
