The Veteran's Day breakfast was a great success.  50+ veterans and their guests (105 total) enjoyed a delicious gourmet breakfast prepared by our own Dieter Geerts.  The students moved the hearts of many with their rendition of patriotic songs and the Irish Blessing at the end.  Keynote speaker Lt. Col. Alex Plechash spoke on what being a Marine has meant to him; he especially highlighted the importance of the virtue of integrity.  Many, many thanks to Stacey Klassen for organizing the event, and all volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the day special for the veterans.  If you know veterans who would appreciate an invitation to next year's event, please email Carol Stewart in the office at cstewart@hfamn.org.  Top

S.T.E.P. (St. Louis Park Emergency Program) provides needy families in St. Louis Park with food and gifts to help them during the Christmas season.  Last year, S.T.E.P. distributed gifts to over 1,050 children; this year the need is even greater.  Due to this large need in our community, Holy Family Academy is joining forces with Holy Family Parish by supporting S.T.E.P.'s Christmas Giving Tree Program and your help would be greatly appreciated.  To participate, please stop into school and visit the Christmas Giving Tree located next to the Mary statue in the main hallway (or ask your child to do so during their school day).  Just choose one of the over 100 paper ornaments on the tree that has a gift idea written on it, shop for the toy, and bring back to school, unwrapped, by December 9th.  S.T.E.P. will pick up the toys on December 11th for delivery to needy families.  Help our school be a blessing to our neighbors.  For more information, please see the Giving Tree Info Sheet.   Top

Virtue Family Thanksgiving Luncheon

The traditional Virtue Family Thanksgiving Luncheon will be Monday, November 23rd.  It is a special time for our students to gather together to give thanks with their Virtue Family.  All kindergarten through 8th graders eat a family-style turkey dinner with the entire school and then head outdoors for a joint recess. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the meal from 9:00 am to approximately 1:00 pm. If you would like to help out at this beautiful event, please contact Margaret Grgas at 952-925-9193 ext. 139.
To participate, students must complete the family registration form (downloadable here) that was sent home with the oldest child in kindergarten through 8th graders on Friday, November 13th.  This form needs to be returned to the office by Wednesday, November 18th.  Top

The Fall sports season is over.  The banquets have been enjoyed, the teams celebrated and now it's time to move on to the Winter sports season.  But first, if you have a jersey from soccer or volleyball, please return them next week so they can be used for the basketball season.  Lisa Counts will be sending an e-mail to the basketball players about practice which will begin next week.
Go Crusaders!!!  Top
