Family Lenten Prayer Calendar

During Lent, Holy Family Academy staff and students pray for our families each day school is in session.  Please join us in praying for each other during the holy season of Lent that we may all draw closer to Christ through prayers, sacrifices and alms giving.  The Family Lenten Prayer Calendar can be viewed here or you may print the attachment under Parent Resources, Resources/Forms.   Top

Together! Groups

Together! is coming to Holy Family.  There are two groups for moms forming:
  • One group will meet every other Tuesday from 9 - 11:30 am at Holy Family Church starting March 16.  Email Kristen Toste (mother of 3rd grader Francesca and 2nd grader Christian) at kristin_toste@yahoo.com within the next week so that the books can be ordered.  Childcare will not be available for this group.
  • The second group will meet every other Monday at 1:15 pm at Holy Family Church, with the meetings ending in time to pick up kids at HFA.  The start date for this group has not been determined at this point.  Email Ann Karels (mother of a bunch of HFA kids) at a.karels@yahoo.com if you are interested in this group.  There is no child care for this group; however, the plan is to meet in Moorman Hall right outside the nursery so little ones can play in there while the moms meet.
In a small, safe, team-life setting, we will dive into church documents on marriage, family and prayer; form new friendships; and learn so much.  Friends are welcome to join too!

Allan Law, aka The Blanket Man, Thanks You

Thank you to everyone who donated blankets for the homeless! Thank you also to the 4th graders who bundled them up tight and attached their personal prayers and cards to them.  Our school collected 130 big, small, new, old, fuzzy, and soft blankets that will be given to the homeless on the streets of Mpls within the next few days.  Mr. Law visited our school on Friday to pick up the blankets and thank the children while telling them that he had people he was taking the blankets to that very night.  He told them that every blanket would be keeping someone warm almost immediately.  We were all very moved  by Mr. Law's testimony and his willingness to empty himself 100% of his own needs for the sake of another.  Your generosity is a beautiful gift to not only the poor but to your children who witness your works of mercy in action.  For more information on Mr. Law's ministry, you can see the video at:  http://www.startribune.com/video/69371657.html   Top

Vocations Week at Holy Family Academy

We are pleased to celebrate Vocations Week at Holy Family Academy March 1-5. Some of our events include:
Monday:  Students will receive a "Pray for Priests" wristband that they will be asked to wear daily through Easter as a reminder to stand in the gap for our priests and pray for them daily; they will also watch the video, Fishers of Men.  We will have the kick off to "Vocations Trivia" which will go throughout the week.  Students will have the opportunity to study facts about vocations and enter their name into a daily drawing.
Tuesday:  Fr. Beaudette will be visiting with the students to talk about his call to the Priesthood.
Wednesday:  Adoration and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament following Mass - all students will stay to pray for our priests.  9 hour Novena for the Priesthood will begin with our morning announcements and be prayed as a school over the p.a. every hour.  Students will be asked to complete the 9th hour at home with their family.
Thursday:  Seminarians visit with students to talk about the priests that inspired them and led them to the priesthood.
Friday:  Seminarians visit with students to talk about how we are all called to discern our vocation.

Save the Date: Track and Field Day

Save the Date: Our ever-popular Track & Field Day will be held on Friday, May 28.  More information will be coming home soon, but we are asking parents to consider volunteering for this event.  We will need volunteers for the morning, the afternoon and all day.  You can contact Elizabeth Hessian, Track & Field Volunteer Coordinator, to sign up.  Your willingness to help drives the success of the event. We also need sponsors for this event--sponsors can contribute financially to the event or provide snacks/water for the event.  If you know of an organization or person that would be willing to help, please contact them.  The cost for the day will be $4 per student or $15 max per family; additional funds are welcome to help those families who can not pay. Money is due March 1st.   Top

  Adorers Needed
There are two hours that currently do not have a regular adorer in the Adoration Chapel: Tues. 4 pm and Fri. at 11 pm.  If you have been thinking about making a regular Holy Hour, this is a great opportunity.  The hourly coordinators for the Chapel are able to find subs if there are days you have conflicts. Some people “share” an hour and are scheduled every other week.  We are willing to help you find a time that meets your needs.  We know that Jesus will richly bless you as He cannot be outdone in generosity.  Call Jim or Mary Glover at 763-533-0423 if you are interested.  Top
