Rajan Family Update (see this link for information about the Rajans:  http://www.hfamn.org/userfiles/Our%20New%20Indian%20Family(1).pdf)

As you know, our students raised money this year for the Rajan family of Kerala, India, with the goal of helping them build a home on the tea plantation where they live and work.  In addition, we hoped that we could help their 10 year old twin daughters return home from the hostels, which are very poor orphanages, to live with them (parents must pay plantation owners for each child that lives with them and the Rajans are too poor for all of their children to live with them).  Our students raised $1,500 and a generous donor provided another $500 allowing us to give the Rajans $2,000.  Thank you to everyone who supported this mission and assisted in raising the funds.  Our goal will now be to raise additional funds to help the Rajans bring their daughters home. Throughout the summer students are encouraged to do small jobs to raise money for the Rajan family.  Every penny will help!

HFA Volunteers Help Our School Stay Under Budget

We are pleased to tell you that we came in under our anticipated budget thanks to the hard work of teachers and administration AND because of the many parents who took a role as a volunteer in a normally paid position.  These include:
  • Mrs. Karels who volunteered as our Thursday school secretary;
  • Mrs. Phillips who volunteered as a girl's junior high p.e. teacher;
  • Mrs. Robinson who volunteered as our 4th and 5th grade p.e. teacher;
  • Mr. Cowley who volunteered as our 3rd grade p.e. teacher;
  • Mrs. Hessian who volunteered as one of our head librarians;
  • Mrs. Phillips who also volunteered as a head librarian;
  • Along with the numerous parents who volunteered in so many important ways like coaching, library, hot lunch, kindergarten, recess, and pre-k.  Thank you!!
Our school is a better place because of all the volunteers who stepped in and took a key role this past year.  We are very grateful and very blessed!

End of the Year Invoices

This year, we will be sending one invoice per family via e-mail for all book fines, outstanding lunch balances, lost library books and anything else owing.  This should eliminate receiving several slips from various sources that can get confusing or lost.  Please watch for an e-mail by June 11.

2010 - 2011 School Logo Policy

Effective September 1, 2010 (the start of next school year), the new school logo is required on all boys' white oxfords, grades 6 - 8 girls' white oxfords, and all sweaters and vests (boys and girls).  Any pieces worn with the old logo will be considered out of uniform.  The new logo on the uniforms is universal for both boys and girls.  It is BLACK with a gold cross.  There is no red in the logo.  Make sure that the company you are ordering from orders the correct one.  Because there were some mistakes last year with colors, shirts with the new red logo purchased within the past two years will be allowed.
